Town Improvements

Through this committee, we solicit youth input and provide youth perspective to assist the community in improving town amenities that support the positive development of young people.

This includes:

Mini-Golf

Who doesn't love Mini-Golf? We're working to bring Mini-Golf back to Westport, creating a joint committee alongside the People with Disabilities Commission and Senior Commission.

Study & Stress Relief at the Westport Library & Toquet Hall

We work with the Westport Public Library and Toquet Hall Teen Center to provide expanded study hours during exams as well as stress relief activities such as therapy dogs and bubble popping.

Student Creation Market

We've created a showcase for Westport's young entrepreneurs through our annual student creation market in Bedford Square. The event is a way for students to promote businesses they run or creations they've made.

Town Advocacy

WYC members can also work on projects where the town would benefit from the viewpoints of the resident youth. Some activities have included providing polls for town committees, meeting with the Downtown Steering Committee, and collaborating with the Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Merchants Association.

How do I join Town Improvements?

Once you become a member of the Youth Commission (voting or non-voting), you can join your choice of sub-committees (or both).
