Our mission at the Westport Youth Commission, as defined by the Westport Town Charter, is to support and advocate for the youth and families in our community. We aim to make sure that the youth's voice is heard and are dedicated to building a greater sense of community in Wesport.
The Westport Youth Commission consists of two Advocacy Groups: Peer Education & Awareness and Town Improvements. We come together monthly to address the greater needs of the youth in our community and give inputs on project plans. Members spend about 2-3 hours per month working on projects based on their topics of interest that will allow them to test their leadership skills and make a difference in the community.
Our team is built up of students and adults dedicated to serving and advocating for the youth in Westport. The adults are electors of the town and the students are Westport residents who attend Staples and local private schools. We enable them to share their opinions and bring their own unique and valuable voice to the table.
